Woodley Village Hall's 40th birthday

You might remember 1986 for the year construction began on the Channel Tunnel, Andrew and Fergie got married, Maradonna's 'Hand of God' and petrol was 40p a litre, or maybe none of the above, but surely it was the opening of Woodley Village Hall on 4th October 1986 which stands out.

In 1975 the old CofE Primary School in School Road, Woodley was bought by the Romsey Extra Parish Council so that Romsey Extra would have it's own village hall. A local appeal raised funds for the building, as did NOMADS, the amateur dramatics group, who made the new hall their home and generous grants were given from local councils.

40 years on and this year the hall is still looking good following recent redecoration, plus solar panels and new stage curtains.
